The picture I am using for the thumbnail of this post is a picture I used previously to talk about an event that took place last year but I feel that what I am about to write in the following paragraphs only that picture or another group picture with the hivers is the only way to do justice to everything that has happened in these 4 years of the best decision I made: Creating an account in Hive.

Pero si es tu primera vez leyendo mis publicaciones y no tienes ni idea de quién soy, o me sigues desde hace poco, o vienes por el chismecito (no te juzgo), te voy a contar desde el principio (y resumido, porque si no esto se vuelve más largo que los libros de El Hobbit) cómo llegué allí y por qué ando celebrando tener 4 años en blockchain, en web3 pero principalmente en Hive.

In the picture above you can see an Arlette who, although she got up on stage, took that picture and talked about Hive, one of her favorite songs, she had never spoken in public before. It was one of her dreams, but at that precise moment of the photo, she couldn't believe what was happening nor that she was fulfilling one of her most longed-for dreams, as @enrique89 mentioned to me a couple of hours after that moment in which I immortalized what would be my first public talk and which, thank God, today I am thankful was not my last. But if it's your first time reading my posts and you have no idea who I am, or you've been following me for a little while, or you're here for the gossip (I don't judge you), I'm going to tell you from the beginning (and summarized, because otherwise this becomes longer than The Hobbit books) how I got there and why I'm celebrating 4 years in blockchain, in web3 but mainly in Hive.

Hive comenzó el 20 de marzo del 2020, ¡en plena pandemia del COVID-19! Y eso obligó a muchos, como yo, a quedarse en casa. Bueno, yo no me quedé en casa. Trabajaba en ese momento como cajera en una panadería, y el sector de alimentos era algo necesario para mantener a la población viva. Así que seguíamos trabajando, y lo hacíamos con un horario que, aunque súper limitado para algunos, fue bueno para mí porque me dio la libertad de leer algunos libros y buscar información sobre diferentes tecnologías. En esa búsqueda de información, llegué a un grupo de Telegram del cual ya no soy parte (y honestamente, no sé si continúa disponible y funcionando) en el que estaban activamente hablando de blockchain, web3 y Hive. En ese momento, yo no tenía la más remota idea de qué era Bitcoin, mucho menos Hive, pero me llamó la atención lo de la creación de contenido (uno de mis sueños es ser escritora) y que de cierta forma recibes recompensas en una ventana abierta de 7 días por ese contenido creado por ti y 100% original. Si te estás uniendo ahora, te cuento que Hive tiene un sistema de recompensas bastante atractivo. Puedes seguir a @hiveio y @hiveblocks-es para tener información mucho más detallada al respecto. Así fue que llegué a la misma fecha de hoy pero hace 4 años, cuando un hiver muy conocido y estimado por nosotros, @ritch, me colaboró con la creación de la cuenta de Hive en la que hoy me lees. Eso sí, demoré como un mes en publicar por primera vez, pero mi cuenta fue creada el 18 de abril.

I hope that at this point you don't think that the stage thing happened from day one, because it didn't. Hive started on March 20, 2020, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic! And that forced many, like me, to stay home. Well, I didn't stay home. I was working at the time as a cashier in a bakery, and the food sector was something necessary to keep the population alive. So we kept working, and we did it with a schedule that, although super limited for some, was good for me because it gave me the freedom to read some books and look for information about different technologies. In that search for information, I came across a Telegram group that I am no longer part of (and honestly, I don't know if it is still available and running) where they were actively talking about blockchain, web3 and Hive. At the time, I had absolutely no idea what Bitcoin was, much less Hive, but I was struck by the content creation thing (one of my dreams is to be a writer) and that you sort of get rewards in a 7-day open window for that content created by you and 100% original. If you're joining now, I'll tell you that Hive has a pretty attractive rewards system. You can follow @hiveio and @hiveblocks-es for much more detailed information about it. So it was that I arrived at the same date today but 4 years ago, when a very well known and dear hiver to us, @ritch, helped me with the creation of the Hive account in which I was able to create a new account.

Esta fue la segunda vez que subí a una tarima, la primera vez en mi ciudad. Pero este evento fue a principios de diciembre del 2022. En la historia que les estoy contando, apenas íbamos por el día en que creé mi cuenta. El 27 de abril cometí dos "locuras" (cuando me lean, entenderán las comillas): me rapé la mitad de la cabeza (y no, no fue como Britney) y renuncié a mi trabajo porque en ese momento la economía del país tenía ciertas condiciones que me favorecieron para dedicarme casi al 100% a Hive (algo que no recomiendo porque fue un salto de fe que hice sin pensar en las posibles consecuencias, un rotundo NO LO HAGAN EN CASA). Hubo un par de veces durante el 2020 en las que me arrepentí de tomar esa decisión, pero siempre pasaba algo que me hacía cambiar de parecer y continuar aquí. Llegó el 2021. La pandemia seguía, pero estaba más flexible y comenzamos a abrir aeropuertos, a vernos con personas fuera de nuestras ciudades. Aunque habían pasado cosas súper emocionantes en casa (invertimos más que tiempo en juegos NFTs que hasta nos hacían madrugar o no dormir), era hora de salir de casa de nuevo y volver a la "normalidad". El resumen del 2021 es: viajé 4 veces, la última vez a Caracas, donde conocí a un montón de hivers mientras comíamos pollo. Fue asombroso desvirtualizar personas, una experiencia de otro mundo que les recomiendo altamente. En los últimos dos meses de ese año me pasaron cosas como que Platzi me becó por un año completo, conocí a alguien que me impulsó a creer más en mí y me ayudó a crecer laboralmente en el 2022 y 2023 (pero no nos adelantemos). Y sí, la primera parte del 2023 se volvió eso: estudiar mucho, seguir explorando todo el ecosistema cripto, seguir probando cosas, mucho ensayo y error. Hasta que llegó el primer evento de Hive en mi ciudad: Maracaibo. Trajimos el Hive Creators Day a Maracaibo y lo festejamos en junio de ese año. Luego asistí como ponente al de Barquisimeto. En agosto hicimos un evento cripto-tecnológico aquí en Maracaibo y así fue como terminé siendo speaker en la Caracas Blockchain Week del 2022.

This photo that was taken of me at ZuWebFest, a tech event held in my city every year, I like it very much, although I still don't know who the photographer is. This was the second time I went on stage, the first time in my city. But this event was in early December 2022. In the story I'm telling you, we were just on the day I created my account. On April 27th, I committed two "crazy things" (you'll understand the quotes when you read them): I shaved half my head (and no, it wasn't like Britney) and I quit my job because at that time the country's economy was in a certain state that favored me to dedicate myself almost 100% to Hive (something I don't recommend because it was a leap of faith that I took without thinking about the possible consequences, a resounding DON'T DO IT AT HOME). There were a couple of times during 2020 when I regretted making that decision, but something always happened that made me change my mind and continue here. 2021 arrived. The pandemic was still going on, but it was more flexible and we started opening airports, seeing people outside our cities. Although super exciting things had happened at home (we invested more than time in NFT games that even made us wake up early or not sleep), it was time to leave home again and go back to "normal". The summary of 2021 is: I traveled 4 times, the last time to Caracas, where I met a lot of hivers while eating chicken. It was amazing to desvirtualize people, an otherworldly experience that I highly recommend. In the last two months of that year, things happened to me like Platzi giving me a scholarship for a whole year, I met someone who encouraged me to believe in myself more and helped me grow professionally in 2022 and 2023 (but let's not get ahead of ourselves). And yes, the first part of 2023 became that: studying a lot, continuing to explore the entire crypto ecosystem, continuing to try things, a lot of trial and error. Until the first Hive event in my city arrived: Maracaibo. We brought the Hive Creators Day to Maracaibo and celebrated it in June of that year. Then I attended as a speaker at the one in Barquisimeto. In August we did a crypto-tech event here in Maracaibo and that's how I ended up being a speaker at Caracas Blockchain Week 2022.

El impacto de ese evento y todo lo que vino después solo lo puedo explicar como explico cómo gana el Real Madrid en Champions: no lo entenderás, solo disfruta el partido. Llegó el ZuWebFest en diciembre de 2022, y luego el 2023. En febrero, comencé viajando a Riohacha, Colombia, para representar a Hive. Saqué mi pasaporte y asistí al evento Tomodachi White Day. Luego, viajé a Santa Marta, Colombia, para representar a Hive en un evento donde había personas incluso de la India (en este evento me di cuenta de que mi nivel de inglés era B2, ya que logré entender charlas y conversaciones completamente en inglés). Mes y pico después llegó el reto más grande: un escenario internacional e inmenso en la Blockchaincon Latam en Lima, Perú. A ese viaje me acompañó Fermionico, y le doy gracias a Dios por eso, porque pudo ayudarme en el momento en que no pude dar la charla. Llegó agosto y llegó el Cripto Latin Fest 2023, el que para mí fue uno de los mejores eventos de todo el año por el ambiente, por toda la gente que conocimos y por todos los contactos que hicimos. ¡Hicimos mucho networking! En esta oportunidad, se nos sumaron al team @tsunsica y @kathajimenezr.

After Caracas Blockchain Week, where I met an absurd amount (and by absurd I mean there were too many) of hivers and I fell even more in love with the project for everything that being a part of it represents, everything went crazy. The impact of that event and everything that came after can only be explained the way I explain how Real Madrid wins the Champions League: you won't understand it, just enjoy the game. ZuWebFest came in December 2022, and then 2023. In February, I started traveling to Riohacha, Colombia, to represent Hive. I got my passport and attended the Tomodachi White Day event. Then, I traveled to Santa Marta, Colombia, to represent Hive at an event where there were even people from India (at this event I realized that my English level was B2, since I managed to understand talks and conversations completely in English). A month and a bit later, the biggest challenge arrived: an international and immense stage at Blockchaincon Latam in Lima, Peru. Fermionico accompanied me on that trip, and I thank God for that, because he was able to help me when I couldn't give the talk. August arrived and so did Cripto Latin Fest 2023, which for me was one of the best events of the whole year because of the atmosphere, all the people we met and all the contacts we made. We did a lot of networking! On this occasion, @tsunsica and @kathajimenezr joined the team.

LABITCONF fue sencillamente SENSACIONAL, tanto en calidad como en cantidad de contenido. Pero eso no fue todo: ¡pasé tres semanas en el mejor país del mundo: Argentina! Reuní junto a mis compañeros de viaje (Natalia se nos unió a mí y a Fermionico, y de último se nos sumaron @samgiset y Enrique). Éramos los 5 contra todo lo que fue este evento, simplemente glorioso. Al volver de Argentina a casa, todo diciembre fue una recuperación emocional porque había encontrado al amor de mi vida en su versión argentina. Volveré para quedarme, lo prometo, y que quede grabado aquí en la blockchain. Ese mismo diciembre me invitaron a dos eventos: el Crypto Summit del Sur en febrero y El Bitcoin Tour en marzo, ambos ya en el año actual, 2024. De los cuales publiqué hace poco. Sé que me dirás: "Arlette, no hablaste de la Caracas Blockchain Week ni del Hive Blockchain Summit". Y es cierto, no los he mencionado aquí. Pero no te preocupes, ambos eventos fueron MUY épicos y tienen su propia publicación en mis redes sociales. Pero, ¿esto es todo lo que ha ocurrido en estos años? ¡Claramente no! Hubo una cantidad insana de reuniones por Meet, una cantidad incontable de Spaces en Twitter, una cantidad no recordada de llamadas grupales en Telegram, varias charlas en universidades en Venezuela y fuera de ella, muchísimas fotos con muchísima gente, muchísima edición de fotos, muchos selfies, una cantidad de horas en aviones y aeropuertos, muchas horas de cursos vistos, dos rupturas amorosas, varias veces enferma, muchas noches que no se durmieron completo, muchas horas lejos de casa, muchas horas de luchar con mi síndrome del impostor porque creo que no puedo, y un largo etcétera.

After Cripto Latin Fest, I spent the entire month of September at home, relaxed, doing personal activities and preparing for what would be a before and after in my life. LABITCONF was simply SENSATIONAL, both in quality and quantity of content. But that wasn't all: I spent three weeks in the best country in the world: Argentina! I gathered with my travel companions (Natalia joined me and Fermionico, and at the last minute @samgiset and Enrique joined us). It was the 5 of us against everything that was this event, simply glorious. Upon returning home from Argentina, all of December was an emotional recovery because I had found the love of my life in its Argentine version. I will come back to stay, I promise, and let it be recorded here on the blockchain. That same December I was invited to two events: the Southern Crypto Summit in February and The Bitcoin Tour in March, both already in the current year, 2024. Which I recently published about. I know you're going to tell me, "Arlette, you didn't talk about Caracas Blockchain Week or the Hive Blockchain Summit." And it's true, I haven't mentioned them here. But don't worry, both events were VERY epic and have their own post on my social media. But is that all that has happened in these years? Clearly not! There were an insane amount of Meet meetings, an uncountable amount of Twitter Spaces, an unremembered amount of group calls on Telegram, several talks at universities in Venezuela and abroad, many photos with many people, a lot of photo editing, many selfies, a lot of hours on planes and airports, many hours of watching courses, two breakups, several times sick, many nights that were not fully slept, many hours away from home, many hours of struggling with my impostor syndrome because I think I can't, and a long etcetera.

Sin embargo, hay varios motivos por los que no lo hago: 1. Honestamente, no me gusta ventilar demasiado las cosas que me pasan, sobre todo cuando se trata del trabajo. ¿Quién no ha llorado porque se le cierra el programa mientras edita o, peor aún, se le va la luz? Hay cosas que se salen de nuestro control, que no podemos evitar, y créanme que soy la primera que estoy pendiente de las cosas que sí podemos controlar para que salgan lo mejor posible. Pero los retrasos, los errores, las enfermedades... un montón de cosas pasan y hay que resolverlas, y seguir adelante. 2. Soy pésima para hablar de mis sentimientos, y es algo que estoy trabajando en mejorar. 3. ¡Tendré una cuenta nueva! Pronto leerán el anuncio y sabrán qué haré, qué diré y qué no diré por aquí y por allá. Estoy ansiosa por estrenarla porque es algo que llevo pensando desde noviembre del año pasado. Han sido 4 años maravillosos de principio a fin, y confío en Dios que serán muchos años más. Agradezco a todos los que confiaron en mi capacidad para representar a Hive a nivel nacional e internacional, empezando por @guiltyparties, @crimsonclad y todo el equipo detrás de @valueplan, quienes han confiado en mí desde el principio. Espero no haberlos defraudado hasta ahora y espero no hacerlo en el futuro. Han sido 4 años de aprendizaje constante, y es algo que me niego a dejar. ¡Sigamos construyendo juntos! ¡Gracias Hive!

I know some of you will tell me that Hive is not like Instagram, that here I can also catharsis about the negative things that happen in my life. However, there are several reasons why I don't do it: Honestly, I don't like to air out too much of what happens to me, especially when it comes to work. Who hasn't cried because their program closes while they're editing or, worse yet, the power goes out? There are things that are out of our control, that we can't avoid, and believe me, I'm the first one who is aware of the things that we can control to make them go as well as possible. But delays, mistakes, illnesses... a lot of things happen and we have to solve them, and move on. I'm terrible at talking about my feelings, and it's something I'm working on improving. I'll have a new account! Soon you will read the announcement and know what I will do, what I will say and what I will not say here and there. I'm anxious to release it because it's something I've been thinking about since November of last year. It has been 4 wonderful years from start to finish, and I trust in God that it will be many more years.
